Now the deadline for registrations for K 2022 has been reached, it is clear that the interest taken by exhibitors in the world’s most important trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry, to be held in Düsseldorf from 19 to 26 October 2022, continues unabated. “K 2022 will again occupy the entire fairgrounds,” rejoices Erhard Wienkamp, Managing Director at Messe Düsseldorf, and goes on to say:
“When talking to exhibitors we feel that there is an enormous demand for personal exchange on a global level.”
K 2022 will again welcome the “Who’s Who” of the international plastics and rubber industry to Düsseldorf – there is no other place with such high international attendance. Some 3,000 companies from all continents have registered to exhibit their innovations in the segments:

“K 2022 stands for internationality, innovations and professional networking. Exciting and groundbreaking innovations in the industry continue to be presented at K. In addition, highly topical social issues such as the circular economy, CO2 neutrality and resource conservation are taking up more and more space. If you want to experience impressive product innovations and sustainable recycling live, you can’t miss K!”
The sector’s most relevant information and innovation hub
K in Düsseldorf provides the global plastics and rubber industries with their most important information and business platform. Exhibitors and visitors from all over the world get together here and use the opportunities their No. 1 trade fair offers to demonstrate the operational excellence of this industry, discuss current trends and chart the course for the future. K 2022 comes precisely at the right time to offer the plastics and rubber industry orientation again after the changes induced by the pandemic.
“K 2022 is recognized throughout the plastics industry as THE important event at national and international level, and the German Plastics Processing Industry Association (Gesamtverband Kunststoffverarbeitende Industrie – GKV) is also one of the sponsoring associations of K 2022 in the trade fair year 2022. The key themes of “circular economy, digitalization and climate protection” are very important topics to business, but also to society, with which K sends a strong signal in the direction of sustainability and corporate responsibility. The circular economy in particular is one of the topics that the GKV and its supporting associations have also put on the political agenda and on which they are working with great pressure, as it represents the future vision for the sustainable handling of plastics.”
The leading themes of K 2022
K in Düsseldorf not only serves as the arena for forward-looking product innovations every three years but also underlines its exceptional positioning by addressing both the challenges of our day and age and of its industry, in particular. This is reflected above all by the three major guiding themes of K 2022:
- Circular Economy
- Digitalisation
- Climate Protection
These leading themes will be echoed by both the exhibitors’ presentations and in the focus of the official special show “Plastics Shape the Future”, the Science Campus and VDMA’s Circular Economy Forum.
The special show “Plastics shape the future” takes up key social and political issues and promotes dialog between industry, science, politics, NGOs and other interest groups – all of which is rich in facts and variety. The project of the German plastics industry under the leadership of PlasticsEurope Deutschland e. V. and Messe Düsseldorf sees itself as a podium for approaches to solutions and answers to current trends and discussions that provide information about how we want to live, work, do business and research in the future. Of course, pressing industry topics such as the circular economy, alternative sources of raw materials, resource conservation and digitalization are also high on the agenda. In this context, “Plastics shape the future” not only aims to provide an international information and networking platform, but also to give a voice to everyone relevant to the exchange and debate with keynote speeches and discussion panels.
The winning formula at K in Düsseldorf also means always being oriented towards market needs and developing its concept further. This is why the physical event on site will be extended to include additional digital content. “This consolidates the pole position of K in Düsseldorf as a central communication and information platform of its industry – for the duration of the physical trade fair and beyond,” says Wienkamp with conviction.
